  1. I am currently reading a book on the Commanche Indians. They are reputed to be the best horsemen and the best and most ferocious fighters of all of the American Indian tribes. One standard item of dress that they had for centuries, is the buffalo "skull cap." They later adapted the feather headdress, but it was not until the 1870's.

  2. at one time i had many Yakima and Paiute friends who still lived somewhat like that.
    they were great and wonderfull people. my grandparents were honorary members of the Yakima tribe and were allowed to fish and net for salmon with them on the columbia river when the falls were there, before the dam. i have been removed from that part of the world for a long time now.

  3. I am part of the Mohawk Community in Upstate New York. Most of our young people here don’t speak or know the language, nor have an interest.I am in my eighties. Although there are a handful that are learning, but it’s a lifelong thing. Too many interferences out there.

    1. are the Mohawks the ones the were not afraid of heights and did all the steelwork on the skyscrapers in NYC ?
