And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Gavin was also Murray on the Mary Tyler Moore show. Who had the immortal line: "It's OK Ted, if a pig flies it's not fair to criticize him for not getting very far off the ground."
Ernie married for the 7th time to an old HSN TV cosmetics marketing Queen, Tova of Beverly Hills. Stayed together until his death.
She walked into JG Melon's in 2002. 74th @ 3rd. Flying up from Charlotte,I'd been going there with my East 77th St. girlfriend. Bartender knew her. Her PR queen had worked as PR Director in Bush 41 WH; we had friends. She said her hubby would be there soon.
Asked the bartender how he knew her (had known him for 3+ yrs.); he - "my son is Dylan McDermott".
30 minutes Tova's hubby walked in - Commander McHale. Fun guy, bought everyone drinks for 2 hours.
There was also Hogan's hero's in that mix of TV shows about U.S. servicemen portraying con artists, cutups and malcontents. Who can forget Sergent Schultz saying the line "I know nothing" in that fake German accent.

DeleteNot to squash the nitnoids, but Phil Silvers as SGT Bilko was pretty misfit and predated McHale's Navy by several years.
ReplyDeleteBilko was not a misfit. He was a con artist who had the ossifers pegged and manipulated them at will.
DeleteThe whole cast were hilarious cut-ups.
