And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
A few months ago our grocery had them on sale for .99 per can...
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say, I stocked up...
Wish I purchased even more than I did, but didn't want to be too greedy....
Oh, BTW - I forgot to mention, it was the entire line, that was on sale...
ReplyDeleteNot just one flavor... I purchased two of everything.
I refuse to buy Progresso products, ate a can of soup was sick for days afterwards.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it was too much salt. Try the low sodium.
DeleteSick for days huh, you can’t eat it out of the can it needs to be heated in a pot on the stove. You should have read the directions.
ReplyDeleteI had been a fan Progresso soups for ages until they increased the salt. Became unpalatable.
ReplyDeleteBut the low sodium recipes are good. I have a good supply myself. I open a can when I'm too tired or lazy to cook.
But the very best is making your own from scratch. The cooking adds warmth to the home and the wonderful smells wafting throughout. Perfect for a cold or rainy day. I use a 22 qt pot.
I am not a Progresso fan. Campbell's Chicken WonTon or the Beef and Barley works for me. Anything Mama Rao.
ReplyDeleteWhew! I had not scrolled far enough down when I read the lead-in for the soup. I thought you were referring to the litter above.
ReplyDeleteThanks to your previous recs, cw, I already have close to 100 cans onboard. Progresso is the most affordable of the common soups, but the reality is they are more water than the others. But then, that's what crackers are for. And as Elaine said, "When you crumble you can have a hearty meal."
ReplyDeletePlus they keep forever without refrigeration. Season to taste, as they say. I like to add all the leftover stuff in the fridge. Yum.
DeleteWhatever's on sale works for me.

The chicken & rice is good, but I like the chicken & Sausage Gumbo with a little Tobasco, cheese & Okra added-kicks ass!

Chicken and wild rice is good, and one of the few that does not have GMO ingredients.
ReplyDeleteThicken it a bit by adding sauteed collards or other garden greens, I've done it with the Healthy Choice C&R and it is a treat.
