  1. About the most pragmatic way to build structures that will last thru many winters in that mountain pass with minimum maintenance. Can not imagine the winter winds that get to howling thru there.

  2. Yah. You know it's bad outside when, even with the stove running, you see fine drifts/wisps of snow going from one side of the room to the other.

  5. From experience I can tell you that once you lose the sun in the autumn it gets cold really, really quickly in the fiords.
