And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I'd drive that! Cute old pickup, be an easy refurb, last forever, good simple set of wheels. Find a later engine used in a couple cars, the hi perf version put out 235hp 210ftlbstq.
Had one of those once, wish I'd have kept it. That thing could climb trees - I often used it to pull lesser 4x4s out of trouble. Can't recall where I left it.
We had a mil surplus Jeep on the farm in the late 60's for 45 years. If you take off the spare tire carrier and add a roll bar that is about what we had. It was very cold natured until it got fuel injection with the new head when dad rebuilt it almost doubling the Hp. The "Starting" label was missing.
A J-10 with the big V-8 was a fun ride, capable of surprising Corvettes while carrying a load of hangliders. Solid axels front and back, it handled like a big MG.
Ultimate anti-theft system, just take the carburetor with you. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteMy dad had a '65 Wagoneer with that engine and automatic. What a piece of crap.

ReplyDeleteThat brings back memories of my '62 International Harvester straight six PU.
ReplyDeleteJust because most two legged predators couldn't drive it wouldn't stop them from trying to steal it.
