And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
If I REALLY want to watch Big Jake and Donovan's Reef tomorrow (4am-8am) I have to hit the button with in the next hour & a half! $36! We live in an amazing time.
John Wayne always seemed to be a good person in real life. I always thought it was odd that many of his movies, he played an estranged husband/father figure.
I like Rio Bravo, because the great cast, Angie Dickerson was definitely one hot biscuit, Dean Martin was perfect, plus some excellent tunes, full of characters and great character.
Most of my favorites are missing. No Stagecoach, They Were Expendable, Fort Apache, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Rio Grande, Rio Bravo, Red River, or The Searchers. My #1 favorite is She Wore a Yellow Ribbon.
I think I remember in El Dorado, after "Joey" shoots John Wayne, he leans over in his sadle and grabs a rifle out of the river. How the hell do you reach the ground if you're sitting in a saddle?
I don't expect they'll sell many. People in our age range have seen them all or have them all.
ReplyDeleteIt appears anyone younger doesn't know who he is.
All the more reason to give a youngster a set for Christmas. Also, The Quiet Man is a true classic. Maureen O'Hara was never better.

ReplyDeleteThat was my personal favorite movie of his.
Delete"The Cowboys" ... "Yeah, that's black, too".
ReplyDeleteBad history, bad acting bad script, yet John Wayne films sold well. That speaks volumes for the viewers.
ReplyDeleteYou Sir, have absolutely no taste.
