Funerary Mask of Merit, wife of Kha. Linen stuccoed and covered in gold leaf, inlaid with stone and coloured glass. From the tomb of Kha and his wife Merit, Deir el-Medina. This tomb is considered to be the best surviving furnished, non royal tomb from ancient Egypt. Kha was the architect of the Pharaoh (Amenhotep II 18th Dynasty).

  1. The Museum of Fine in Boston shared in the looting of the Middle East in the colonial era. The art work and craft work from Egypt and Mesopotamia are strikingly beautiful.

PS. In the early 60’s, college students could get into the MFA with their college ID and $ 0.50. Some 20 years ago, or so, it cost $20 per person. The Gardner was similar. Spent many a lunch break at both.
