There are farmers raising emu here in northern AZ. They sell the eggs (which are large, beautiful, and tasty) at the swap meets and farmer's markets. I drive by one ranch every so often. This looks way too large to be an emu. I'm with GR above, this is a cassowary.

One of the great many critters in Australia that can kill you - a very large bird called a cassowary.
