And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Single pane window. Get a 3m window film kit and create a see through air barrier. R-value added is immense. We did that to all the windows in our house in Minnesota. Cut the heating bill by 1/3.
Lived thru a few winters looked like that after a nor' easter up in northern NH, storm coming in off the Maine coast, particularly in 78-79, but there where "clippers" that come and go with severe cold front ripping thru, next fay perfect crystal clean blue sky. Worked during and right thru a number of them, as a surface coal miner, contour mining operations at 3000-4000 ft mountain top elevation, in WV. Just keep right on working thru it, everyone except the fuel guys and mechanics, operating top notch equipment. Rarely hampered operations, only one time we let out early cause our big grader was down, the snow was deep enough chains on our vehicles and running tow chains between vehicles in a string, so we could get up a 10 percent grade up over the highest point on the haul road. 4ft of snow with sections of the road at a open pass get drifts ten to twenty feet built up. Use a loader to cut thru those sections. Most never hear about it cause barely any people live up there. The worst storm I was in, it was 26 hours to make it 32 miles, the last 5 miles on foot up thru a skinny hollow the wind drifts filled, only eay up about 800 yards was literally swim like a snow angel on my face, must of taken a few hours, only get 5-10 feet, take a breather, go another body length. Then the last 4 miles slogging thru knee deep snow to the front door. Wore out my tire chains by the twenty mile mark, left the truck in the ditch, was 5 days before roads where cleared enough to recover it. Top that off, we let out at 1am, talking to my wife on the cell, loose signal never comes back, find out later all the battery sets for back up power for the area cell towers where stolen. My poor wife was frantic, all our wives where, no idea what happened to their husbands, where they where, when they would make it back to the house. Turned out we had the highest snow fall in our area for the entire east coast for that storm, from Maine to N. Carolina.
It looks cold, I was thinking about the heat leaking out the window area.
