Multiple strikes in 40 minutes. Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. The atmosphere was, shall we say, active.

  1. Worked at a surface coal mine in WV, we where cutting contour benches around a 4000 ft elevation mountain ridge, place was a lightning magnet, we would get electrical storms looks like this photo, get tons of rainbows same time, nobody got out of their equipment tell you what, you could feel the electricity, smell it too. They only used chemical fuse lines and non electrical blasting caps and booster charges for blasting up there, of course am-fo/off road diesel mix for the main charges. Don't believe even lightening will set that stuff off, they have to put clusters of 6-8 booster half way down to maintain the blast, mist coal ribs where under 99-100 foot of top. Nice coal too, was 7-8 years ago I worked up there and they sold it on the trucks at the unheard of price of $400 a ton. Super high BTU and no sulfur, as employees we got 2 tons free every year, it was so rich you could take a bic lighter and get it burning in your hand.
Guess some customers used it for coal to liquid plants making super high grade jet and rocket fuel. Calgone used it in a super high pressure steam plant producing some secret special products from rumors going around.

    1. "the unheard of price of $400 a ton." Is that a high or low price? Right now the tractor supply up the street is getting $650/ton in 40 lb. bags
