And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I can practically smell the excrement now. A dear friend spent a month in B'desh working at the top children's hospital in the country. It was not a good experience. She said it smelled like shit from the moment they unbuttoned the plane. Anyway, clean, potable water is indeed a problem there. There was a UN program to dig tube wells to meet this lack. Turned out the tube wells produced high amounts of arsenic, but they are still in use. The upshot of all this is astronomical rates of neural-tube defects (e.g. spina bifida) because the arsenic interferes with folic acid metabolism despite supplementation.
