And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

THE NORTHMAN - Official Trailer - and guess who the hero's love interest is! Yes, it's her.
It's that Anya Taylor-Joy chick. She gets either a strong positive or negative reaction when I publish an image of her. Very strong, either way - it's weird - kinda like how far apart her eyeballs are. But, she's parlayed her appearance and the near violent reaction to it into a very nice career. I'm betting she'd be a fun gal.
Just saw this on the Biiiiigggggg screen, will never get those three hours back. Rent it. It's slow plodding and dark. Best part was the credits and they sucked. You do get to see wide eyed's ass though.
Polite disagreement with other poster. It is a big screen movie. Yes, it does start slow. Yes, it is v. dark, not a ray of sunshine to be seen. Based on Hamlet, brother kills brother, takes brother's wife, dead brother's son vows revenge. Knowing Shakespeare, you know a lot of folk do not come to a good end. Diiiiiversity crowd won't like this as cast is all white, hard to tell through the mud, muck, and blood. Heavy on the mysticism, violence, and from what I've read historians say an honest look at the culture of the time. I am a movie snob, so this one's a good break from the current crap of batman/spiderman/superhero remake and more marvel comic wokeness. Director has two other movies done, I will be checking them out.
Hard 'No" for me...watched the trailer. Sure, he's ripped and 6'4", so fits the enigma (working out all day for months on end will do that), and it is Hollywood. But geez, every one of these epic-level films are constant in your face over-the-top about it. Subtle works better for watch-ability, I don't need to live inside the movie to "get it". Like saying Yellowstone is real ranching (and Sheridan is brilliant). But to each his/her own.
Egads! It's her!
ReplyDeleteMy people.
ReplyDeleteIf those eyes were any farther apart they'd fall off her skull.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to say: I have no idea who she is.

DeleteIndeed. I may have to pay good money to see this in the theater just to support this kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteWhy do they show too much of the story in these trailers? It pushes me from wanting to go see it right now to waiting a few months and renting.

ReplyDelete:-O I refuse to believe Eric Northman is bad in anything. The only thing that would make it better would be if Godric was in the movie as well. J/K
DeleteKnowing nothing of the plot, from the trailer alone I'm going to say Nicole Kidman's character doesn't want to be rescued.
