And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Happened to me in my much beloved S-15 Jimmy. I was innocently sitting at a red light when a guy in a Chevy pickup just drove into me. He said he must have fallen asleep. One of my co-workers said the guy just went stupid. He was just a local Redneck, which is ok since, though I identify as an Atlanta Cracker, I'm from a long line of South Georgia Rednecks.
Pedal misapplication, they all swear they were standing on the brakes and when the authorities check them, they work fine. This phenomenon is responsible for the booming bollard market. Street level commercial with adjacent 90° or angled parking can't get insurance without them.
I'd say that kind of accident happens all the time. Here in Cincinnati, one of the two worst driving cities along with Boston, I see accidents ALL the time and there is always a woman standing by the car that appears to be at fault, if not women in both. And I only commute 12 miles to work, 8 of it easy freeway driving. And how can anyone not be paying attention in rush hour?! No end to the rear enders around here.
Everybody - look at all the other drivers around you. They're ALL looking at their phones - ALL of them. But that's OK because we made them take a "test" to "buy" a license.
I watched that a dozen times - if you look at her head, it appears to be leaning back against the headrest - I think she was asleep or passed out - otherwise, it was a medical incident and she was not conscious. Assuming, that is, that her head is laying back on the headrest.
I agree with pjk. I think she was passed out. And from the looks of the cars and surroundings, I think this took place before the era of cell phones and texting.
I saw an accident like this except the women drove head on into a truck sitting in a turn lane. No seatbelt and they way she hit the truck didn't trigger the airbag for some reason. She died with her foot on the gas pushing the truck backwards. Very strange.
No airbag and not wearing a seat belt? 🤦
ReplyDeleteThey were optional in that model. And as we all know it'll never happen to us.
DeleteBlonde, therefore explicable.
ReplyDeleteYou mean expendable.
DeleteCould be both.
DeleteLooks like texting from here.

ReplyDeleteI thought she just didn't see the same things we see but that may be a cell phone in her right hand...

ReplyDeleteBased on license plate shape & size, I’d say Russian.
ReplyDeleteHead up ass, no window in stomach.

ReplyDeleteAsleep at the wheel, or passed out drunk/stoned.

ReplyDeleteI'd be willing to bet that the accident report includes the words "alcohol was involved".
