And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

One dragging it's nose, the other dragging it's tail.
Interesting that the Concorde was done in by a hunk of metal that fell off of a DC-10 onto the runway that destroyed the Concorde's rear tires that flew into and broke open the fuel tank.. DC-10 still killing people.
That was a gorgeous plane. Just beautiful. I remember watching it do landings at Gander, Newfoundland, as a kid.. It was not a destination, for sure, but it was the first airport one would reach on this side of the Atlantic that was long enough for it, in case of an emergency, so there were certification flights flown.
I used to deliver new cars to a dealers lot near the runway for JFK. It was mostly a residential neighborhood except for the lot between two major roads. When a "normal" plane would fly over, a few cars alarms systems would go off. When a Concorde flew over, they ALL went off. Unbelievably loud.
Wonder why the Citroen DS is in it highest suspension setting?
Pair to the Concorde was a very very rare Citroen CX special model. https://www.artebellum.com/en/articles/6929-citroen-cx-gti-turbo-concorde-auction-highlight

I worked in Leesburg, VA in the early 00s. Takeoffs from Dulles were a treat.
ReplyDeleteFrench engineering: the latter by way of apology for the former.
