And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Odd, isn't it, thatbimmediately as it happened, there just so happened to be a bunch of people filming it from all different directions? How fortuitous! Gee, I wonder how they knew to point their phones camera in that direction? What luck, eh?
One video shows the first grey cloud after it already had climbed, then focuses on the base, where you see small objects flying around and exploding, then a flash and then the big boom.
Question is, what caused the first blast that caused the fire that set off the secondary explosives that then set of the big explosion.
Anonymous, Not saying it isn't odd that all these different shots were being done at the time of the horrific incident, but it could be folks were calling others that the, so called, fireworks factory was on fire and is exploding. And I see from other videos there is series of smaller explosions leading up to this 1/8th kilo ton blast. Was it fireworks? Me thinks something more nefarious is going here. But what? 😲
Saw a report that said it was ammonium nitrate fertilizer that had been stored for over 6 years, illegally and without oversight. It does look like a concrete silo complex before the blast. No word on the second blast that was away from the docks.....
Beans is right. You need a blasting cap to initiate a high order explosion. High order detonations require "pressure." You can put a match to C-4 and you can get it to burn but that's not how it explodes. The same is true with ammonium nitrate. If you are mixing ammonium nitrate and fuel oil (ANFO) it will yield a blacker smoke.
Ammonium nitrate usually will not detonate by itself, because it is an oxidant and requires the addition of a reductant. The most common choice in diesel oil.

ReplyDeletePay attention, the cellphones are filming _after_ the first explosion. Before the big one blows out the fire.

Hmmm...
News report that it was just a bunch of fireworks that spontaneously combusted. HA!

ReplyDeleteI surmise that it was an ammo dump. Also the reason that all of the cameras are on that building is that this was the 2nd explosion.
ReplyDeleteAnd damn if it wasn't impressive.
Today's period of instruction will be "Advanced Bomb Making". Be Advised; DO NOT attempt any assembly without direct super....uhhh #$%^&!

ReplyDeleteThat was the Port Silos complex. Most of the wheat entering Lebanon is there Flour is going to be in short supply for a while.
DeleteFlour and wheat dust are very explosive in the right situation. Ammonium nitrate usually needs a primary explosion to set it off, usually.

ReplyDeleteAmmonium nitrate is a widely used fertilizer, perhaps the most common form of nitrogen fertilizer used.
