  2. I used to work in W Africa and lived in a staff house next to a FFL outpost barracks. They were some hard-edged bastards. Every once so often they would practice their low-level airdrops, usually after some local tire-burning road blocks or other insurrective activity.

  3. ah, the french. kicked anyone willing to fight for the country out of the country. don't need those neanderthal types in la belle france. no sir. send them to africa. recall in the fifties, the legion had desires to overthrow the republic. got put on permanent shitslists.

    1. The 1REP was disbanded by DeGaulle and the Legion made a part of the French Army after the revolt of the generals. The 2REP was formed and is in Corsica. The rest of the legion is spread around metropolitan France and France is quite happy with the Legion since they made the changes. The 1REP, which was the core of the forces that supported the revolt of the generals, is gone forever.

      They've always been a tough bunch of characters.
