And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
In Australia I had several Morris Minors, and one Morris LD5 truck. Loved the Minors, they ran on the smell of an oily rag & had a great suspension, and a fun 4 on the floor gearbox.
I'd have one again in a heartbeat, but they're pretty rare these days!
Defiant, they built them the old fashion way. No pneumatic nail guns, no power hoists, no power saws or safety equipment like harnesses, eye/ear protection, foot or safety headgear. It was a claw hammer, hand saw a dozen or so nails held in the mouth a T-shirt, shorts and leather boots.
Nice split level home. I'm guessing that color hue would mildew pretty quickly in the humid south.
Single slope roofs - clerestory windows - and I'll bet that white panel over the door is T1-11 siding. I think it all 'Olde School Cool' :^). Single slope roofs are inexpensive to build and frame, going up quickly.
Clerestory windows (placed high along ceiling line) illuminate the room better by spilling light across the ceiling rather than blinding the occupant. Allows furnishings to be placed anywhere along the wall. Or current building code would frown on those windows in bedrooms - no way tor emergency egress, sill needs to be 2'-10" minimum from finish floor ii I remember correctly.
That little rag-top is a Morris Minor. I had one once.
ReplyDeleteMorris Garage = MG...
I just know.

The car everyone is standing around is a 1960 Plymouth Valiant. The red and white car is a 1958 Ford and the white and grey car is a 1959 Oldsmobile.
ReplyDeleteI had a Valiant once too! Named it Prince Valiant. Whatta car!
DeleteOh God did they build ugly houselike things back then.

Mom and Dad had a 58 Ford Blue and White though. Remember it well.
ReplyDeleteLooks like SoCal, and looks like a 50's California plate on the Morris.
