And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Hehehehe...not the first time things didn't go as planned. Back in the early 80's I was part of the pre-commissioning crew of the USS Carl Vinson. We were out in the VA capes area doing flight deck qualifications (testing the catapults and arresting gear). At this time, the F/A-18 was still a prototype being foisted on the Navy by Macdonnel Douglas. When the first F-18 flew to the ship from NAS Virginia Beach, it couldn't trap for some reason. The thought the electronics had become uncalibrated, or the landing signal system was showing incorrect glide slope. They tried to think of everything they could. Finally, they had the aircraft make a slow fly by with the hook and gear down. Yup, some highly overpaid wrench turner had installed the arresting hook upside down at the M/D factory. The aircraft headed back to the beach and the Macdonnel Douglas rep on the ship turned all shades of red along with a string of very salty language, or so I was told.
The Navy's latest F-35 carrier quals seems to nave hit a snag........
