Big and Little, Both Good

  1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that sure looks like a California Golden Trout. I remember trying to catch these little buggers in southern Sierra Nevadas when I was stationed at George AFB in the late '80s. Had to hike in to get to them. Used barbless hooks.

    1. A friend and I did the same thing with native brookies here in PA. We used to hike a long way down the mountain to a tiny little stream to catch and release them. I would file off the barbs on some #14 hooks and bring a bunch of the tiniest worms that I could dig up. That was about 45 years ago when I could still walk that far. I sure miss those days.......

  2. Got a cold little stream near here with wild cutthroat, where a big one might run 6 or 7 inches. Fightingest little guys on the planet. I use a #6 tippet and the smallest woolie or mosquito these old hands can tie. No, I ain't gonna divulge the coordinates...
