And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Rainbow obsidian
I didn't even know there was such a thing. That would make an outstanding arrowhead.
Isn't it gorgeous! There were a couple of talented knappers spending the summer next to our cowcamp one summer in Oregon. They had gotten some rainbow from the Rainbow Mine in Davis Creek, NE Calif. It was the first and only time I've seen it. Really Beautiful. If you get a free take permit you can go to the Rainbow Mine and take up to 100lbs/year. Best to check with the Davis Creek Mercantile, 41942 Lakeview Hwy Davis Creek, CA (530) 233-3758
"The Davis Creek Mercantile in Davis Creek provides maps and permits to the mines, free of charge." It would be wise to get a more detailed forest service map, as well. Happy hunting. Lots of interesting history in that area. The Applegate Lassen trail goes through there.
I've never seen that either.

Wow! That's information I am glad to have! Thanks much! Is the Davis Creek Merc where you get the permit?
