Curtiss Goshawk

  2. The Goshawk went up against the The Mitsubishi A5M/Type 96 (Claude) in China with disastrous results. The Type 96 was the direct ancestor of the famous Mitsubishi A6M (Zero/Zeke). Curtis got into the habit of building yesterday's aircraft and the Japanese innovated and showed them how it was done downtown.

    1. You sir are correct. Read Out of the Crisis, by Dr. W. Edwards Deming. Americans considered Deming's approach to be defective. The Japanese considered it to be revolutionary. The rest is to be read in the history of Mitsubishi, Honda, Toyota, Datsun, etc.
