Rural parade on the fourth

So I live in a rural area of central California, and nothing really happens out here.  Very quiet.

However, the wife saw in the local paper that one of the ranches in the neighborhood was going to have a parade down our little street, for the first time ever.

So, given this unique event, everyone went down to the man cave to wait for the the parade to come by.  There's a big roll up door that allows us to see the road, while we lounged on cheap yard sale couches.

Pretty soon the dogs started barking, and we saw it coming.

First, a horse drawn wagon loaded with kids

Some horse men and women, and then a couple of classic cars, and even a parade queen in the red Cadillac.

Away they went, over the hill.  The old Ford we have seen before out and about.  Today, it had an old guy driving it, and what was probably his granddaughter sleeping soundly in the front seat with him.  Too much excitement for the little tyke.

All and all, a pretty nice production for our country lane.  A classic all American, completely volunteer produced, Fourth of July parade.

  2. Loved it! When we were kids we would decorate our bikes, put playing cards on the wheel spokes and ride up and down the streets. Ah, the good old days.
    Happy Birthday, America!

    1. Come on over anytime, Brock, and feel free to bring the family. I like nothing better than to get a big BBQ going.
