And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I too was never a real big fan of W and his big government tendencies, but no one ever seriously doubted his patriotism nor his natural human kindness.
President George W. had his faults but you could tell he genuinely loved America.I foolishly tried to give President Obama the benefit of the doubt, but I don't get that love for America feeling from him. Great post! thanks for sharing it here...
Can you imagine our current president 'lowering himself' (in his mind) to carry food for the troops? BTW, they make a big deal talking about W's grades in college. Why hasn't Mister '57 States' ever released HIS transcripts? I think we've learned the answer in the past seven years.
So you're all proud of GWB - that he loved his country. No doubt he did. But he and Cheney lied us into an invasion of Iraq - which had nothing to do with 9/11. GWB had every right to go after those who were behind 9/11. As a result 4400+ died for nothing BTW I'm a Vietnam veteran w2hose mad as hell as the neocon idiots who love to go to war But don't serve themselves in time of need)
George W. is still doing a lot behind the scenes, without fanfare, and it's true. He was a president. We haven't had one since him.

ReplyDeleteI never got real excited about GWB either, but consider the alternative: Al Gore (speaking of petulant schoolchildren.)
