And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Trip to Eagle Lake today. On the way back, some views of our local volcanos.
East side of Lassen
The mighty Shasta from above Hat Creek, looming with menace in the near distance
Aw yeah, Hat Creek, I almost drowned there when I was 4 and visiting my aunt Lola.. A portion of my Dad's ashes are scattered there too. A Bidwell descendant dontcha know
question, is this position the photos are taken, far enough away to survive a Mount St Helens eruption? asking cause never got an opportunity to see that landscape and its geology first hand.
Haven't been to Eagle Lake in years...I'll have to do it again soon. Beautiful ride, great camping.

Shasta, probably yes. There's an escape route directly east (Hwy 44). Lassen, no. Lassen last erupted seriously in 1915, not long ago.
DeleteHeard that. What, is Larson situated in a valley points straight to the volcano/
DeleteLassen was swell to take a couple of days to explore, back in the day. Bumpass Hell!
