  3. the dry air in the great basin areas will cause some awesome lightning storms. as a child in the 60's i remember my dad putting all of us in the car to protect us.
    we could see the storms coming for miles and i thought they were amazing to watch then. it scares the crap out of me now.

  4. My father grew up there, and one of the treasures he gave to me was a fulgurite that he found. It’s a fused glass plug made when lightning melts the sand where it struck.
