And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
the dry air in the great basin areas will cause some awesome lightning storms. as a child in the 60's i remember my dad putting all of us in the car to protect us. we could see the storms coming for miles and i thought they were amazing to watch then. it scares the crap out of me now.
My father grew up there, and one of the treasures he gave to me was a fulgurite that he found. It’s a fused glass plug made when lightning melts the sand where it struck.
