The Margravial Opera House is the best-preserved example of a freestanding Baroque court theatre. Built between 1744 and 1748, Germany

  1. Is that ever! Talk about the goth look. Impressive for sure, not kidding when saying its a example of Baroque, might add its a fine example.

  2. Very nice. If it were built today, it would take 12 years to get the permit, and another eight years to build and wouldn't even begin to meet the grandeur of this.

  3. The curtain is a replacement. The French were on their way back from their Russian Adventure and nicked it. There is a grave of a noted French staff officer in the Schloss Fantasie park. Maybe he tried to stop the theft. Our company made escutcheon plates for the doors during one of the recent renovations. The opera house is right next to the synagogue, which saved the synagogue on 9th November 1938 when the nazis burnt down or blew up most of the synagogues in the country. Awfully considerate of them. There is a nice little tobacconist directly across from the opera house, well worth a visit. Yeah, it's my home town.
