And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

T-class submarine HMS Thorn (N11), built by Cammell Laird & Co Limited, Birkenhead, between 1940 and 1941. She had a short-lived career, being sunk in early August 1942 by the Italian torpedo boat Pegaso.
Looks very Nemo-ish.

DeleteApparently that hump was to fit in two extra torpedo tubes. She got her licks in before she was lost.

ReplyDeleteTorps outside the pressure hull seems like a good idea, lot less plumbing and what not.
