And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
That big radial engine will supply lots of warm air for cabin heat, a small duct off the cooling circuit do the trick. Like how a super sized VW beetle bug engine does, though old type II's heat was pretty anemic at best.
Radial engines are air cooled so the only heat source from the engine is an exhaust heater which doesn't give very much heat and can kill you with carbon monoxide. DC-3s had to have a combustion heater installed such as made by Janitrol or Southwind (aka Northwind, they were notoriously unreliable) that burned avgas and could also kill you with CO or set the plane on fire . Google "Ricky Nelson death". That is probably a very noisy and cold ride but I guess it's faster than a dog sled. Al_in_Ottawa
how would you steer?
ReplyDeleteSteering? Who needs it when you can just blast through everything and go straight to the destination.
DeleteAppears to be steering linkage on the front ski
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it's got kind of a pitman arm coming out of the cab that might turn the straight front axle. If so, it's simple.
Deleteperhaps a Russian KA-30 aerosled.

Darn straight! That thing is cool, must create a blizzard behind it though from that big prop.

My 1956 VW Bug has a gas fired heater that sits right over the gas tank. 100% sure I will never test it out.
DeleteJC Whitney catalog, next to the exhaust cut-outs.
DeleteIs it coming, or going?
ReplyDeleteHow many Stukas did it take out in the Great Patriotic War comrade?
