Harvest Mechanized

  1. I call fake. Look at the number of rows on each head. Or maybe it's a promo photo for Big Green.
That aside, yep, that's how it's done - except that every combine has a 12 or 16 row head on it. Run day and night 'til done. Get enough neighbors lined up and you can harvest an 80 acre field in an hour. Don't forget you'll need an equal number of grain carts and plenty of storage....80 acres is around 20,000 bushels at today's yields!

  2. The combine is full and only holds about 330 bushels. A 16 row head will fill that in about 2000' of field. Gonna need 18 wheelers to haul that to the silos.

PS: FIL has a small one man operation that uses a 16 row planter and a 8 row combine. Used to take him and his two boyhood friends about 6 weeks to clear all their land doing 12 - 14 hour days. Sometimes he let me drive the grain bins.

The boyhood friends have gone to their great reward and FIL is retired and a big outfit farms the land and gives him a split. They can do it in a week.

  3. Definitely a fake, there's no discharge of the shredded stalks and cobs and no dust.

  4. From the looks of those grain tanks they might be waiting for trucks.
