  8. Have landed there a few times. The landing part is cool to watch but the knuckleheads that try to hold on to whatever they can find behind aircraft taking off is pretty comical.

  10. A New Zealand woman was killed there in 2017 when she was blown into a retaining wall by jet blast from a departure.

  11. Retired airline pilot here.....

    In my 34 years of experience, there are about half a dozen airports which should be plowed under, re-designed and rebuilt somewhere else. This airport, St. Marteen, is one of them. The margin of safety is razor thin, and they operate only through exceptional skill and no small amount of luck. It shouldn't be this way.
