  1. Many years ago a friend was competing in an autotest when his drive disappeared. Ah, a halfshaft, we thought. No, they both came out intact. A few screws later he produced a handful of teeth just like that: they were originally part of the diff . . .

  5. I am guilty of blowing synchronizers on second and third in a car that weighed 2150 and had a 138 Hp DOHC 4 banger. The transmission is the weakest link in most drivetrains.
