And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Come to think of it, it has been a long, long time since I saw ice cream sold in a box
Me too and I hated the boxes. I always got my knuckles creamed scooping out of the box bottom. On the plus side I developed skills to just scoop the strawberry out of the Neapolitan!.
I don’t care what the container shape is, but im forever annoyed that the paper box held 64oz and the newer rounded box holds 48. That’s a 25% reduction. And the price went up anyway. Lots.
Yes, 31 Flavors is still around.....there's one nearby. I haven't been in the place in years, maybe decades. OTOH, we have been through a Dairy Queen in the past year....a treat for the grandkids....and man, have they gotten expensive.
We was poor, got mellorine in a box instead of ice cream. It was like ice cream, only not as good. Cheaper, so we used it for coke floats to hide the poor taste.
I remember when you could buy a 'QUART' of ice cream.
ReplyDeleteWe can thank the great state of Texas for Blue Bell half gallons.

I don't remember quarts, but I do remember pints.
DeleteI also remember when a cardboard half gallon of ice cream had 2 quarts.

ReplyDeleteThe cardboard boxes were set up with an unfold able flap in order to have easy access to the ice cream inside.
DeleteStill can get one brand in WV, think its made in Kentucky, their plain vanilla is first rate.
ReplyDeleteVanilla ice cream and the fresh fruit of your choice. Really delish. Also great over banana nut bread.

ReplyDeleteReal ice cream without 27 varieties of preservatives. Local dairy ice cream was so good.
ReplyDeleteIf it was payday we went to 31 Flavors. Are they still around?

I saw boxes of ice cream in the Kroger's this afternoon....
ReplyDeleteBoxes are the easiest for parties - unbox and slice.
