And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Got one cheap, model 10. Had a notion, just ti see if it could be done. Bored the cylinder out and reemed it to fit 44 Special, enough meat in those nice old revolver cylinders, (they made a .45acp model, figured .44 is a tad smaller case ID, just enough cylinder length, but I hand load so no biggu there), machined a new barrel for it. A 3", full length tapered to paper thin at the muzzle, no sights, milled a slot on top the strap to sight down. Came out excellent if I say so meself. Tapering the barrel makes a world of diff in how quick it is to point.
The top looks like a Victory model. My father in law had a 38 S&W rebored to 38 SPL. Made a mess of the brass.
ReplyDeleteI have an old Colt New Service in 38-40. I sometimes wish it could talk. Early 1900s I’m told. Chuckster
ReplyDeleteNo school like old school. And, yes, I do have both a S&W and Colt in .38. Carry them from time to time when the 1911s get too heavy.
ReplyDeleteHave a Rossi with a broke hammer that looks just like that. It stays in a junk drawer by the back door. JIC. It's special.
ReplyDeletegot a smith 10, had a colt '17 in 45 ACP.

ReplyDeleteI prefer stainless.
ReplyDeleteSo, you don't like any Smith & Wesson revolvers made before 1965. Too bad for you.
DeleteMore for me

I'm pretty sure the top is a 1917 S&W .45ACP. Wonderful guns to shoot, they have a pleasant recoil. Just a soft bounce.
