And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Roman mosaic discovered during the last excavations in Pompeii.
The talk of the town today is about blogger censorship... The Blog "No Pasarán" Has Been Locked and Removed; Google: Put an End to the Censorship Supposedly one post and one comment did it.
I never really paid attention to Roman mosaics until I saw some, in place, when my wife and I went to Israel on a church trip, 11 years ago. I was blown away by how intricately they were made. Simply mind-blowing, as was how the Romans built some of the city of Jerusalem that you can visit. Blocks of rock used basically as bricks that a modern business card barely fits between. The Roman empire was probably the peak of Western Civilization - until Apollo 11. Or maybe Voyager 2.
