And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
During the pilot episode of the highly fictionalized TV show "Black Sheep Squadron" they showed Pappy belonging to the Flying Tigers before he left to rejoin the US Marines. As entertaining as it was, that was probably one of the few things that were true in the show. There is an over the air channel called H&I TV that has two episodes on every Saturday evening. There was a Corsair hangered at the airport I learned how to fly. The guy that owned it would fly in airshows. He commented that if you gave it too much throttle quickly it would barrel roll due to the torque of the engine.
Marine Squadron 214 was Pappy Boyington's "Black Sheep" Squadron, also flying Corsairs!
