And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Remember those civilized times when white men could linch a black man just for looking at them? What about those white only bathrooms? Remember when men could beat their wives with no repercussions? Ahhh, the good old times... Certainly more civilized.
You youngsters may not be aware of the fact that during the Lincoln-Douglas debates, opposing sides in the audience often pulled out a revolver and shot an opponent dead. Yeah, "civilized" as all get out.

ReplyDeleteMy maternal grandparents except grandpa was a considerably larger man. But dressed almost identical. Sure miss them. And the rest of the family.
