And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I did a year at Reykjavik International Airport, (Keflavik) Naval Air Station, '72-'73. Air Force had a little interceptor squadron there. It was a great duty station. Crazy North Atlantic weather!

I highly recommend a visit, even if you just stopping over on the way to Europe. The Iceland Airline offered a deal where if you stayed, there was no extra fee this past summer.
There is an elevator, 10 Euro, and the view is fantastic. But beware, the bells chime when they chime. Saw a number of people jump / startled when that happened.
