I used mine a lot.

  1. I've using a Paperwhite since I moved into an RV in 2013 & it works really well once you get past the "feel of a book" thing.
Even when I went back to a "house" the Paperwhite is still what I read.

  2. Just replaced an older Kindle with this. Amazon purely sucks at getting your library on a new Kindle. Why sell one that can hold thousands of books yet you have to download them by the handful?

    1. Use a dedicated application, like Calibre to manage your library...

  3. The e-ink readers are great. Save and search passages and words. Look up defi nitions in many languages. I use an old Sony and my wife is on her second Nook. Calibre is a useful for library archiving and format conversion and Sigel for making your own EPUBS. Then there's your local e-read library and several on line archives for penny pinching and rare items.

If you cannot leave paper books you're limiting your reading scope, education and passage retrieval ability.

  4. I had a first-generation Kindle that lasted for more than 10 years.
I used to download to the Kindle, and backup to my PC.
When I got a Paperwhite, I had to re-download every book, because the format was incompatible between the two.
    Minor issue, but annoying.

  5. As much as it is cool, I still prefer my hardcover books.

  9. Are you able to zoom in with those things and have the paragraphs adjust accordingly? I'm tired of buying books that I can't read because of font size, line spacing, or something else ridiculous like every word being underlined. I would also require books to be able to be saved locally so that they're not repo'd.

    1. You can adjust the size of the font, everything adjusts with the size of the letters.
The books are on my kindle and I can back them up to my laptop or other storage medium.

  10. In my twelfth year using one. My paperwhite has traveled extensively. Clunky parts are offset by utility and relative low cost meaning I won’t cry too hard if it ever was stolen or broken.

Hours from nearest power reading while exploring it has bern a joy.

Never will replace my physical books, but has earned a prominent place in my travel kit.

  11. This is a single-purpose device, optimized to do that one thing very well. I recommend it.
