  2. It’s often courtship, but not always. Sometimes it’s a dispute over food. I’ve seen this a few times, usually when out fishing. Sometimes the pair will break off and head for a tree together.

  3. Yeah, that's what I saw near Markleeville in 1982. That very thing.

    Red-tailed Hawks are pretty famous for doing a love dance too. They'll soar hundreds of feet in the air, lock talons and then fall toward the ground together, letting go of each other just in time to fly away and soar up together to do it again. It's an awesome sight to behold.
