Black Oxford Apple. I like the looks of that. Too bad there's not enough chill here in Redding to grow one.

    The Oxford seems to be unhappy with warm climates.

    1. we have a damaged "chinese pear" that still produces fruit but needs a professional program to get it healthy again. the pears snap like an apple and are delicious.

      ...and can have a pronounced laxative effect.

  2. This is a maine apple from the 1700s. I have 5 planted in NH. Absolutely the best apple I have ever eaten. Zone 5 or colder

  3. Speaking of apples, I found a new (to me) variety that is beyond outstanding. It is called "Cosmic Crisp."

  6. Check out the Arkansas Black. Great flavor and warm weather tolerant. Same shape.
