And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Just going to throw this half baked idea out here....it's been percolating in my grey matter for a bit and it doesn't seem to want to coalesce Has anyone noticed that socialism, communism, et al, never seems to change? Its always the same dogma, the same mantra, the same framework? Generation after generation of power hungry elites spew the same familiar tunes and they never seem to waver in how it's presented. It's almost as if there is a "manual of arms" that is passed from the old elites to the new elites. In my mind; that's scary! When you have generational Modus operandi (disambiguation) THAT speaks volumes. I can only attribute it to an evil, dark force that is walking this planet, inflicting pain and suffering on the populous. Steve
It doesn't need to change, really, does it? As I saw somewhere once, think of Socialism as a mouse trap: Socialism always works because the mouse doesn't understand why the cheese is free, and doesn't much care, either.
Erdogan the Islamist is evil. He has destroyed the Turkey I knew during my two military tours there in the 80's and early 90's (one year in Sinop on The Black Sea and a year and a half in Ankara). The "Turk on the street" was kinda conflicted about that West meets Muslim thing but wanted to be part of Europe and was pretty sophisticated. I would rather walk the streets of Nuevo Laredo today than go back to Turkey. Sad! regards, Alemaster
Mustapha Kemal Ataturk.
ReplyDeleteBingo
DeleteHe was a man. A very good man. I feel sorrow for his country under the clown that leads it now.
DeleteThe Turkey which he fought so hard to form, is not the Turkey which is.
ReplyDeleteas we used to say "chok finah, abbi"
("Really Bad, friend." is a loose translation)
The sad part is that in 90 years from now the same scenario will exist except Trump will replace Ataturk in the photographs.
ReplyDeleteFar more likely to be Obama.
