And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Yesterday evening's tomato/pepper harvest.
I ate one of the Sandia Peppers yesterday while I was outside, using the nibble method, and it was awesome.
The one in the upper left almost looks like a Red Peter. I've grown them for a few years now. The first time was just for the novelty, but they were so good in my three pepper salsa and made into hot sauce that they've become a staple along with the Anaheims, Jalapenos, Habaneros and Thai peppers.........
Hot home growns are my addiction. Thai Dragons, jumbo jalapenos, dark serranos, and, last, but not least, Chocolate Habaneros !! Nothing fires up that jack cheese omelet in the morning like a little love from the back yard. You betcha!
CW---- Just a little heads-up concerning the choc-habs : These little jewels have the gift that keeps giving. Do not think they're just like the orange habs. Not sure of the Scoville rating, but, from my experience, their heat level rivals the effects of nuclear fusion. Use rubber gloves when handling them, do not rub your eyes, and keep lots of half & half in the fridge. You have been warned.......
Thanks. I already learned my "rub the eye" lesson from a batch of Ring of Fire peppers I grew two years ago. It's amazing how often you unconsciously touch your face.
The peppers and their flavor appeals to me...but I avoid the seeds as much as possible.

ReplyDeleteChocolate Habs, I had my eye on some seeds for those last year. Maybe this spring I'll grow some - they sound really good.
