P-51s over USS Texas

  1. 1944? Or maybe post-war. Based on the P-51Ds and the paint scheme. When she went to the Pacific, she was painted very dark blue (almost black) that she sports today.

  2. The last Dreadnought class battleship - guess she and the San Jacinto Monument survived Harvey OK. The technology difference between the 1836 battle at that spot and the launch of the Texas in 1912 is pretty amazing, isn't it? I remember as a kid climbing to the top of the monument and looking down on the Texas, the first battleship I had seen in person - I was impressed!

  3. I would say post war. The P-51's markings are Texas Air National Guard.

  4. What marvellous thick armor those battleships had!

I hope the new craft, the "modern" warships that don't look like they could withstand a Red Ryder BB gun, can do half as well in battle. I doubt it!

I also sincerely hope we never have to find out!

  5. DD1000 class side armor is about 150 Tomahawk missiles and 50 Seasparrows. when they explode from a direct gunfire hit the detonation should deflect the incoming round to less critical areas like the Chiefs Mess area.
