And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

US top ace, Eddie Rickenbacker, with 26 victories, date unknown.
My dad knew him at Eastern Airlines. I have a set of glasses commemorating the inaugural flight of the Lockheed Constellation that he gave my parents for a Christmas gift. If you are ever up my way (Pine Grove) I'll dig them out and show them to you.
Told my wife last week our pastures would be green by today. She said 'no way'. This morning she admitted that I am right. Marking it on the calendar as soon as I finish this post.
Your wife admitted you were right?!? Yes, that's worth noting. Never happened to me. As an old sage once wondered, "If a man speaks in the forest and there's no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?"
Funny thing is,I used to get beat a couple a Sundays a month on a motocross track by a guy with the same look that Eddie has in the photo. They knew they had it.( badass).
Got a family connection here too. My grandfather was his mechanic during WWI, in the Hat In The Ring Squadron. Lots of interesting stories of working on the Nieuports and Spads.
He was a stud. Clanged when he walked.

I will, and yes, things are greening up nicely.
