And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
A friend had a 46 Cub, clip-winged, and used to take me up. I remember one time flying over the former Bomarc Missile Base in Raco, MI at about 1500-2000 ft, looking down and seeing a B-52 passing us while he was at just above treetop level for some reason. He came up behind us and we were of course unaware he was there until he went by. No camera to capture it unfortunately. That would have been in the early to mid-70s, when there were B52s and F106s at nearby Kincheloe AFB and at slightly more distant K I Sawyer AFB near Marquette.
Love some tail dragging Cub!
ReplyDeleteA great starter airplane for you!!
