A perceptive comment on the state of the Islamic Middle East

Found at The Belmont Club:

"The Syrian Civil War and its spillage to the surrounding Arab countries is an effect of the growing collapse of Islamic states economically and politically. It's breaking down into the sectarian and tribal groupings that are its natural basis.

Even in places like Pakistan and Iran, large sections of the state are either in simmering revolt or in growing resistance. The tribal and sectarian separatists are gaining the backing of the Gulf states to fund their disruptive activities.

In this scale, nukes are of little use, but chemical weapons can be very effective. That's why they have been sought after and used."

Which is exactly what happened in Libya after the geniuses in our government deposed Khadaffi.  That country is now a seething mass of warlords and tribes, all fighting and competing with one another for power and wealth.
