Over at The Rio Norte Line, the question was asked:

There seems to be a strong impulse to distrust the citizenry by our current government, to the extent that they want to watch and see what ever it is we are doing, at all times.

Seems this story of the day would be relevant to this issue.

And when did those police get the idea that, as here, simple protesters of an eviction get the full SWAT treatment, complete with camo, automatic weapons, and military style helmets.

I frankly think the taxpayers have bought way too many military style toys for the police, to the extent that now they are looking for an excuse to use them.  Not good.  Only the voters can take control of this situation, demanding a stop to the surveillance, the drones, and the military style of police enforcement.
