In 2004, George Harrison was inducted posthumously into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist. "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was played in tribute by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Ferrone and Dhani Harrison, along with fellow inductee Prince.

I post the video below in reaction to the current trend to lip sync performances, as Prince, of all people, simply burns his guitar up here, showing how a real live performance can explode with real talent on the stage.  Too bad we have way too many pretenders these days.

Simply a world class performance.

  1. Always enjoyed that song. I somehow never knew that Clapton played the lead on the original recording. Great to hear him tell the story in his own words.
