And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I like the "barber pole" spiral route the lightning takes as it goes down the tree. I've seen a few pines with a strip of bark peeled off in a spiral, like on a barber pole, from a lightning strike. Why it does that, I dunno.
I visited friends in southern Washington State a few years back and he took me to ( I think if I remember correctly) Northern Oregon to see the oldest? or largest? tree. If I remember correctly it had a spiral lighting strike. I will have to do a google search to see if I can find the info. I got a little insomnia here on the east coast... I guess I gotta lay off the Chobani Yogurt before bed! HA!
Holy crap! Talk about a perfect timing picture.
