Check out this smugmug gallery for the story of two folk who pulled off a six day circumambulation of Point Reyes Peninsula.
Interestingly, the famous San Andreas fault created that long finger like Tomales Bay, and the rock on the seaward side matches that in southern California, not the rock on the other side of the bay.  Over millions of years, it has moved that far up the coast.

This is a great local adventure, and hats off to the good folks who conceived it and then made it happen.

That's some amazing sea and sand.  No foot prints except their own.

The lighthouse at Point Reyes, one of the most beautiful places on earth.  Also a great place to watch the grey whales migrate by every year.
